According to UNAIDS, every day 1,500 babies are born
with HIV, and 6,500 Africans die from AIDS. In the year
2005, there were 3.5 million new HIV infections and
3 million HIV/AIDS related deaths in Africa. The math
is simple and the UN special envoy, Stephen Lewis is
correct when he says that "If the current situation
continues like this there will be no Africa by the year
2040".
This is human tragedy on the largest
scale, the might of greed and inhumanity over morals
and virtue. These lives can be saved through science
and technology. There exists today medicine that can
protect innocent newborn babies from contracting the
HIV virus from their infected mothers.
We here at African Aids Action want
to put a stop to this unfathomable inhumanity. With
your help, we will create up a not-for-profit manufacturing
facility to produce these life saving medicines in large
quantities and distribute it throughout Africa. This
will save the lives of millions of young Africans dying
from HIV/AIDS related diseases each year. We urgently
need your help.
